So I've been really skinny all my life (genetics, bad diet, posture, skinny bones etc.) and recently I've been hitting the gym regularly + got my diet better.
I got this problem of getting bloated abs. I used to have a visible four pack, but now my middle stomach protrudes. It makes like a separate wall.
I have been drinking sugary protein shakes
is this normal with newbie skinny-fat gains and just a question of diet, or is it not fat and I should be worried?
It is not fully soft like fat.
How to fix this?

I started off at this skinnyfat stage (you seem to have gone from skinnyripped to skinnyfat) (before I joined the forums).
I haven't read your entire log, but I have some questions before I answer:
1. How long have you been working out? What's your training regimen?
2. Can you post before and after pics and a progression since you started working out?

I don't know my exact weight right now, but I used to be 180cm, 57kg.
Ive been working out regularly for a couple months now and my lifts have increased a lot, but yeah - I've gained fat.

1. About 2ish months, but I've been working out irregularly on and off for years, bodyweight stuff etc.
2. Mostly focusing on compound stuff
Unfortunately, I can't find any before pics rn, since I'm on my phone.
I don't think I was "skinny fit" since I still couldn't get girls. Besides, people have always told me that I was skinny, so now I'm just skinny fat ish

Usually it seems no one cares that you're "skinny fit" (no one can see your abs under your clothes for example haha). People will only notice once you have big arms and broad shoulders.
What do you mean by "a lot"?
Through consistent training over 4-8+ months, the muscle you gain should fill out the fat, but I think it's too early to say with only 2 months. You have a tall-ish frame so it will take some time to fill out. I'd do a progress check after another half year of consistent work.

Literally an hour ago a girl told me that I have really broad shoulders o.o I told her that it's a huge compliment and I'm super thankful
For example, bench has increased the most - from doing sets of 38kg to 50kg. Squats not so much, because I still use the Smith machine.
That's faircolgate wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 10:58 amThrough consistent training over 4-8+ months, the muscle you gain should fill out the fat, but I think it's too early to say with only 2 months. That's good progress, but it's not even a plate yet. I'm ~167cm and even I didn't have any chest definition until at least 55kg bench (a plate is 60 in metric right?), so I'd imagine it'll be way more for you.
Think the only diagnosis is to hustle for another half year, it's too early to say. And even if you look like a chunker in that time, you'll look 1. better than now and 2. great after you cut (don't cut now though, it's too early).
How much protein are you getting per day?

Yeah, you're right. I feel like my chest has become super nice, though, and overall torso has that nice v shape effect. I was mostly just surprised that I gained fat for the first time in my lifecolgate wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 6:13 pmThat's good progress, but it's not even a plate yet. I have 3 scoops of vegetable, no sugar protein powder every day with a shake. I've mostly focused on just... Eating more than I want to, even if it's shit.
So yeah, I'll just keep going
