I'll start off with a review of Purple Cow by Seth Godin.

https://fourminutebooks.com/purple-cow-summary/
The quick summary of the book.

Here are 3 lessons from this particular masterpiece of his:

1. We live in the third era of advertising, where marketing is mainly done through word-of-mouth.
2. Not taking risks is riskier than taking risks.
3. If you want your product to succeed, focus on early adopters as your first customers.

My review and thoughts
Seth talks about the psychology of why people don't want to be purple cows which includes fear of shame.

The world is changing and if you want your business to succeed you need to be an outlier. Seth explains why a big banner on Yahoo isn't as effective as a smaller ad you will see on a Google search. You can't appease everyone so understand your niche well. For some of the newer entrepreneurs here you want to focus on the early adopters as they will want to spread your business. The author incorporates a lot of case studies to drive home the lessons.

By extension it wouldn't hurt to master social media to get your ideas to spread although Seth doesn't discuss social media tactics. If you want to get an even better handle of this book I suggest reading Carmen Simon's Impossible to Ignore. Not to get too off topic but these lessons can apply to job searching and dating.

I can tell you all next year my business will incorporate these elements.

I have been recommended that purple cow book a few times. Caleb Jones whom I consider a business mentor among them.

Yeah I liked the book. Even if you only learn one thing from a book AND execute that's all it takes. My current business isn't a purple cow.

AJ Cortes talks about marketing:
- Attention isn't marketing IE the hot chick with 100K followers.
- Need to build relationships
- Quality fans are emphasized similar to 10000 fans theory.
- Your personality is what sets you apart, gives you a story.
