I am no Youtuber, but I believe learning about internet marketing and platforms from a book isn't the best way to learn it. The internet changes WAAY too fast, and books aren't really known to change editions as quickly as they should.
Instead: look at other Youtubers, and replicate their success. I found a really good video from the man himself: MrBeast
Not really a fan of relying on a platform for my full-time income, but you can check him out. From the way MrBeast makes it sound, the content you make HEAVILY relies on what the platform wants and less of what you want.
So far, the ways I see of making money from Youtube as an outsider looking in:
-) Basically grow an audience and do brand deals and rely on ad revenue (what most Youtubers are doing, and the context that MrBeast explains in the video I shared)
-) Using it as a marketing platform. Perhaps you have a business outside of Youtube, and you are just making content to attract eyeballs and driving them to your website or store.
Not an expert, but others may chime in.
