Kind of a meh week for my goals. I let myself get sucked into a video game, played a ton every day, and slacked on workouts and dating. Thankfully I still ate well most days so I didn't do much damage to my weight loss goal. I'm kind of embarrassed that I got sucked into a game that much as a 33-year old man. For this week, I uninstalled the game and plan to not play at all during the workweek. I'll hit all my workouts, go on dates, etc. Then Saturday I'll let myself cut loose if I still really want to play.

Notes:
I started Creatine this week, so not surprised that the weight didn't go down much. I'm still being less consistent with sleep than I want to be. A big focus for me next week will be not turning on the computer on nights when I can't sleep. It occurs to me that I'm incentivizing my own insomnia when I do that.

Yep I've been doing ZERO for about a month. I really like it. My knees were bothering me when I ran but the program seems to really be making them a lot more resilient. I think it'll help with my jiu-jitsu too since those split squats really open up the hips.

Enjoy my man, this is one of the best things I did for my movement and physical function. I tried a lot before but this just changed the way my whole body works, towards durability and robustness that will last a lifetime

Been a while since I posted. I backslid a little over the last month. I'm annoyed at myself for that, but I'm back to it. I was spending too much time playing video games, so I dropped my gaming laptop off at my parent's house this weekend. I have a tiny cheap laptop I can use for posting on here, emails, etc. My plan is to lay off video games until I get my abs.

Dating is on hold for a week or two. I've gotten warts in the past from BJJ and just had 3 new ones pop up on my hands. Warts are contagious so no dating for me till I get rid of them.

I haven't posted here for a while. In "No More Mr. Nice Guy", Dr. Robert Glover notes that it's a tendency of "Nice Guys" to try hiding their failures. "If at first you don't succeed, hide the evidence." That's definitely me. When I fuck up a stated goal, I withdraw and say to myself "I'll just work hard on my own to make up for my mistake so it'll be like I never messed up to begin with". My stated main goal on this forum and with the guys I was texting for accountability is to lose fat. But a few times in short succession, I had binge meals where I just inhaled junk food over a short period of time. So I stopped posting here and stopped texting Toast and Master because they seemed to be doing great while I kept fucking up my diet. I figured I'd keep quiet and buckle down on my own and only post or text once I had some good news about how I was almost at abs. That's worked out about as well as it usually does, which is to say not well at all.

I binged last night on a Wawa smoothie, two cookies, and a quesadilla. Calories for the day come to 3459. My weight shot from 163.4 yesterday to 167.4 this morning. I've had several days like that over the past two months which has resulted in my weight creeping up. I'm still well below what I was at the beginning of the year, buutttttt... I joined this forum and started trying to lose fat in February. It's been 9 months. And I'm just 10lbs below where I started? Kind of pathetic when I think about it that way.

Well. I make no grand proclamations about how "this time will be different". Best not to boast about what I will do, only what I have done. And what I have done for the past month hasn't been that impressive. Not terrible, just - meh. But I figured posting in here again was a good first step.

In good news: I've been consistent with the Knees Over Toes exercises. My legs feel healthy and strong. The warts on my fingers are gone, so I can get back to dating. I stocked up on stronger body wash and some athletic wipes to better clean myself after Jiu-Jitsu. I'm hoping that will prevent more warts in the future.

Starting weight for the week: 168.0 lbs

Over the weekend I came to a realization: Right now I can't play computer games in moderation. Most games, I can play in moderation and at times they can even help me achieve my goals, but certain games I just find impossible to put down. That makes it hard to go to bed on time, which makes eating well harder. And when I'm in the middle of those long gaming sessions I get more cravings for junk food than I normally do. And lately I've been playing one of those super-addictive games.

So on Sunday I literally destroyed my gaming laptop. In the past I've just dropped it off at my parents house to put up a barrier, but I kept going back to get it after just a few days. Now that's not an option. I took it apart and smashed the hard drive, motherboard, RAM before throwing it out so that no one can steal my data. I felt bad about "wasting" the money that I spent on the laptop, but if I think of it in terms of time saved I'm saving myself WAY more money than I'm losing by getting rid of the laptop. Plus whatever dollar amount I want to put on the health benefits of more sleep and a better diet.

Today: Normal day of work. It's nice working from home but I am frustrated at the lack of organization at this new company. People's roles (including my own) aren't very well defined and they lack well defined processes. After work I went to BJJ. Feels good to be back on the mats. Used up all my tinder and bumble swipes for the day (currently I'm on the free versions).

1941 calories. 238g carbs, 44g fat, 170g protein.

Exercise: 10K Steps. Went to the gym and did three out of four planned exercises. I felt really out of it today so I skipped the deadlifts.
Read half a chapter of "The Slight Edge"
Used all my swipes for the day on Tinder and Bumble. Messaged matches. Got one number.
