We all tell ourselves we’re being “realistic.”
But most of the time, we’re not being real — we’re being scared.

Negativity, cynicism, judgment… they feel like protection.
“If I expect disappointment, I can’t get hurt.”
“If I assume the worst, I’ll never be blindsided.”

But that armour gets heavy.
It isolates you.
It turns into a full-time cage.

And here’s the truth most people never admit:

Your negativity isn’t wisdom — it’s a shield.
Your cynicism isn’t insight — it’s fear.
Your “realism” is just an expectation dressed up as a philosophy.

Yes, life can disappoint you.
But disappointment doesn’t come from optimism — it comes from expectation.

And the more negative you are, the more you push away the very things you want:
love, connection, opportunity, peace.

Every story of “I’m too old,” “I’m ugly,” “Dating sucks,”
“I can’t change”
isn’t a fact — it’s a lifeboat you cling to because you’re terrified to swim.

But you can let go.
Slowly. Gently.
By asking one brave question:

“What if I’m wrong?”

What if you’re capable of more than you think?
What if your story is just a story?
What if the world is a little kinder than you decided it was?

You don’t have to drop all the armour today.
Just loosen your grip on it.

Hope is on the other side.
And you’re strong enough to get there.
